DJW Roofing & Leadwork Ltd works as roofers in Wisbech and the surrounding Fenland villages from our base in Littleport, Ely. We cover PE13 and PE14, including Walsoken, Elm, Emneth, Leverington, Outwell, Upwell and Parson Drove. Wisbech has some of the finest Georgian architecture in the region, and its slate roofs, parapets, lead gutters and chimneys call for specialist leadwork. We also repair and re-roof Victorian terraces and newer homes and replace flat roofs. Danny brings 15 years’ roofing experience. Inspections are free, quotes are written and no-obligation, and we repair before replacing where possible. DJW is fully insured and all work is guaranteed.

Georgian Wisbech and the Brinks

The North and South Brinks and the streets around Peckover House form one of the best-preserved Georgian townscapes in the country, much of it within conservation areas. Behind elegant parapets you often find slate roofs, hidden valleys and lead-lined gutters. If your home is listed or in a conservation area, check the requirements before changing materials or appearance; we can explain a like-for-like repair approach.

Parapets, lead gutters and hidden valleys

Parapet and box gutters collect water from large roof areas, so a split in the lead or a blocked outlet can quickly lead to damp ceilings and walls. We renew lead gutters and valleys with correctly sized bays and drips, so the lead can expand and contract without cracking, and dress flashings by hand where roof meets brickwork. Outlets, hoppers and downpipes are cleared and checked at the same time, because a blockage can undo even the best leadwork.

Slate roofs and tall chimneys

Natural slate lasts a long time, but nails and fixings eventually corrode and slates slip. On larger Georgian and Victorian houses, tall chimney stacks also take a battering from the weather. We replace slipped slates, repair or rebuild stacks where needed, renew flaunching and fit new lead flashings to keep everything watertight.

Victorian terraces and newer estates

Away from the Brinks, Wisbech has large Victorian terraces and newer estates across Walsoken, Elm and Emneth. Terraced roofs share party walls, valleys and chimneys, so repairs need care at every junction. On newer homes, cracked ridge mortar and loose verges are common; a dry ridge or dry verge system can solve repeat problems. Where terraces share a chimney or valley, we explain clearly what affects your roof and what involves your neighbour.

Flat roofs across the Fens

Rear extensions, garages and dormers often have flat roofs that eventually blister, pond or leak. We replace them with EPDM rubber or torch-on felt, check the deck beneath and finish neatly at walls and edges, giving you a long-lasting flat roof.

Your questions, answered

Roofing in Wisbech
FAQs.

Do you cover Walsoken, Elm, Emneth and the Upwell area?

Yes. Our Wisbech coverage includes PE13 and PE14, Walsoken, Elm, Emneth, Leverington, Outwell, Upwell and Parson Drove. Get in touch with the address for a free inspection.

Can you repair lead parapet gutters on a Georgian house?

Yes. Lead gutters and valleys are a specialism. We renew them with correctly sized bays and dress the lead by hand.

Do I need consent for roof work on the Brinks?

Many properties there are listed or within conservation areas. Check the requirements before changing materials or appearance; like-for-like repairs are often the most suitable route.

My slates keep slipping. Does the whole roof need replacing?

Not necessarily. Slipped slates can often be refixed or replaced individually. If many fixings have failed, we will explain whether a re-roof makes more sense.

How quickly can you attend an emergency in Wisbech?

Call 07862 885143 at any time for 24/7 emergency call-outs. We will arrange to make the roof safe as quickly as possible.
